America's Pros in Poker

There are several professional poker players existing in different countries, such as in Australia, Canada, and Costa Rica. But in the United States, there are not only a few but a number of players playing poker professionally. We may not be able to mention all of them, but let us learn more about some of them, as well as their achievements related to such casino game.

Young Pak is a professional poker player residing in San Bruno, California. He has participated in several World Series of Poker events, wherein he placed 7th in 2003. His total winnings from live poker tournaments amount to approximately $210,000 as of 2007.

Erin Ness is a female American poker player from New York City. Aside from playing poker professionally, she is also a television personality and photo assistant for the publication "Maxim Magazine." An alumna of Georgetown University, she placed 207th in the 2004 World Series of Poker event.

John Myung, with a total of $1,500,000 winnings from live tournaments as of 2007, is of Korean descent but is based in Vienna, Virginia. Aside from being a professional poker player, he is also an accountant. He has emerged victorious in several poker tournaments he participated in, including the 2005 World Series of Poker, the 2003 Showdown at the Sands tournament, and the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament.

Another American poker player is Christopher Bryan Moneymaker, who holds a master's degree in accountancy from the University of Tennessee. He was an accountant when he won in the main event of the World Series of Poker in 2003. The book "Moneymaker: How an Amateur Poker Player Turned $40 Into $2.5 Million at the World Series of Poker" is his autobiography.

Frankie O'Dell is an American poker player from Long Beach, California. He is a two-time holder of the World Series of Poker bracelet, first in 2003 and another in 2007.

Roger Moore is also a professional poker player from Eastman, Georgia. He was a civil servant when he started playing poker for fun. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1968 when he discovered that he earned more money playing poker than working as a civil servant. He has not been as victorious as other poker players who participate in the World Series of Poker, but his total earnings from playing professional poker have reached more than $590,000.

American Edward Raymond Miller worked as a Microsoft software developer before becoming a professional poker player. Aside from playing poker professionally, he also writes books and articles about poker. Among the books he has written and co-written are "Small Stakes Hold'em: Winning Big With Expert Play" and "Getting Started in Hold'em."

Rodney Erin Pardey is a professional poker player who is also known as "Michael Valentine." He is not only famous for playing professional poker, but also for being a songwriter. The first time he joined a tournament was at the 1998 World Series of Poker, wherein he placed 4th.
