Former Pool Player John Hennigan Becomes Poker Player
Some people probably recognize John Hennigan as a player of another sport. That is because he used to be a professional pool player. He still plays pool whenever he finds time but ever since he began playing poker professionally, he has never turned to the game of pool the way he used to have.
John Hennigan decided to stop playing pool professionally when he realized that it was not enough to earn him a living. He then decided to try his luck in playing professional poker, and true enough, he has always been successful as a poker professional since then.
John Hennigan is considered as a poker professional who uses a risky playing technique. He is known for his aggressiveness that is incorporated with high-risk styles that some poker players believe are very risky. With such playing style, his chance of winning big is very much guaranteed. However, such playing style also exposes him to a chance of losing big. Nevertheless, this poker professional continues to use such playing technique. And so far, it has worked for him effectively.
In 1999, John Hennigan joined a US$10,000 No Limit Hold'em main event of the World Series of Poker, wherein he finished 19th place. This poker professional reached the final table for the first time when he joined a US$1,500 Seven Card Stud event of the World Series of Poker in April 2002. Four days after such victory, he joined a US$2,000 H.O.R.S.E. event that gave him the chance to win his first World Series of Poker bracelet. He was able to earn US$117,320 from the said event. What made such win a big success was the fact that John Hennigan was able to defeat such poker giants as Phil Ivey and Men Nguyen.
John Hennigan's next victory in the World Series of Poker was when he joined a US$5,000 Limit Hold'em event in 2004. This poker professional was able to win his second World Series of Poker bracelet and the amount of US$325,360. Among the poker professionals that he was able to defeat were T. J. Cloutier, David Chiu, and James McManus.
John Hennigan has also experienced success in other poker events. In 2002, this poker professional participated in the inaugural event of the World Poker Tour wherein he placed fourth. Such event was won by poker giant Gus Hansen. It was in 2007 when this poker professional earned his first World Poker Tour title.
He also defeated poker professional Erik Seidel and placed first in the US$7,500 No Limit Hold'em main event of the United State Poker Championship in 2002. In the following year, he joined the same event and placed fifth.
John Hennigan definitely has a lot of accomplishments in the poker industry. And with such achievements, we don't think he is regretting his decision of shifting from pook to poker.
