Playing in a No Limit tournament game is very different from the usual cash game, and you will have to make several amendments to your playing style. Because of this, it is important that you understand and take into account all possible situations and how to deal with them.

You are surely aware of the advice to only play with high hands in No Limit tourneys. That is often repeated, but is simply a fact. By adhering to this simple principle you will spare yourself a lot of trouble.

Another No Limit strategy that you should keep in mind is that when in early position, you should always enter with a raise. Because everyone plays with a strong hand, they will know that you have one, just not exactly how big. Your goal here is to put pressure on the other players; either they will fold or pay a high price to see the flop.

Again, this No Limit strategy assumes that you play early position with a strong hand, and that otherwise you will fold. Bluffing, needless to say, is very risky strategy and is almost never used in the early stages of No Limit tournaments

If you are in the middle position, your No Limit strategy would be to call, as this will give you the chance to observe how the others are placing their wagers. If you are holding a pair of Aces or a pair of Kings, then you can make a raise. Anything less than that, you should fold, or pay to see the flop. With other players to act after you, and with the ones before raising, it is best to play it safe.

Here is another No Limit strategy that you can utilize. Very often, if there are plenty of callers pre flop, it will mean that the pot has increased quite significantly, and that they have good hands. If you are unsure of where you are, then you should fold.

However, if there is only one caller, and you are holding an AA or AK then you should raise. Your objective here is to make it as costly as possible to draw cards. You can opt for the same with a small pair in the hopes of getting a three of a kind, but that is a more risky proposition.

There seems to be no end to the ways that you can play in a No Limit tourney, but if you hold fast to the basic strategies, only deviating if needed, then your chances of winning it all increases significantly.
